Item:133172852323I found this bell at a charity shop, so I know nothing about its history. I emailed an antiquities seller and he said it's likely Medieval or Byzantine but this style was made for over 1000 years, so he could not date it for certain. His opinion was it's probaly late Medieval/Byzantine. The buyer will be the judge of the age of this item as I have no way of knowing. The bell is quite large and non magnetic - it appears to be bronze. The loop is clearly hand wrought cast iron and is magnetic. The clapper is missing but the wire is inside. It is about 7.5 inches tall. There is soil on the interior and patination around that area that has verdigris, so that's consistent with bronze. I'm not sure if it was never throughly cleaned out when it was dug or it collected some dirt over time. There are also some paint drips on the sides from a careless owner. I did not know how to remove them without affecting the patina. I will leave that to the new owner. The bell is untouched by me. There are no chips or cracks. Please review the photos as they are part of the description and email with any questions.Material:Bronze
