Seller: salvart (5,145) 100%, Location: Grand Haven, Michigan, Ships to: US, Item: 371616212068 A early mid 1800s Civil War era antique medical set of 5 silver trocars with cannula and a syringe in purple silk & velvet lined leather covered wood case. Set consists of a fine syringe with silver and horn turned parts and glass tube. 5 different sharp trocars with concentric silver mounts and sheathed in solid silver cannulae with cross cut Ebony wood handles. The trocar instrument sheathed in its silver cannula would be inserted either into a vein or into a fluid filled space. With the trocar removed the syringe could be attached to the cannula to remove the bulk of the fluid or blood immediately. The cannula could then be left in place to allow continued drainage. Instrument shows a wonderful old patina with nice history and is in excellent condition. Complete set, no cracks in glass, silver or wood handles. Set signed CIPRIANO BALDINELLI VAN ANDEGARI MILANO.
