Seller: newlysales (947) 0%, Location: Picayune, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 390448820619 This old Templar Sword, for it's age, is in what I think is good condition. All the metal needs cleaning or shined. The scabbard has surface rust and pit marks. I personally think it needs to be stripped and repolished but I aint the expert. The blade has some dark smudge marks that look like they may have formed due to the sword being drawn from and returned into the scabbard. The over all length of the sword placed inside the scabbard is just about right on at 40 inches. 20 inches of the bladed is etched on front and back with horses with riders, castles, trees, flowers, crosses, etc. There is a name etched into the sword with fancy letters that might be ""C. R." and last name of "Roberts" is very readable. Near the hand guard are "The MCLILLEY & Co., COLUMBUS OHIO. Also etched into the blade in small letters is "Memento Mori." There is no doubt about it this sword needs a good cleaning, shining and polishing. The scabbard also needs a good shining, cleaning, maybe the lower portion needs to be striped and repolished. There are some red crosses with all sorts of designs along the upraised portion of the scabbard. There is imprinted into the scabbard "Be thou faithful to death I will give thee a crown of life." My eyes aint so good in this older age but I believe that is what it says. Oh yes, at the very tip of the blade there is a very small bent tip. Probably no more than an 1/8th of an inch. I believe someone with the know how can take this old sword and with some TLC can return it to its days of splendor. Thanks for looking.
