Antique Japanese Sumida Gawa Pottery High Relief Teapot Signed Scholars Koi Fish

$149.00 1 Bid Sold, eBay Money Back Guarantee

Seller: foundfeeling (2,217) 100%, Location: Albany, Oregon, Ships to: US & many other countries, Item: 183383358368 This listing is for the vintage Sumida Gawa pottery teapot that you see in the photos. I acquired it at an estate sale where I was not told its history. Some research tells me that Sumida pottery was created specifically for export between the late 1800s and the 1920s and that it was still produced until World War II and briefly after the war. I do not know how old it is. I leave it to the buyer to decide how old it is. It looks to me like it is signed but I cannot read the signature. With the lid, it weighs close to 1 pound 3 ounces. Measured to the top of the finial on the lid it measures about 5 inches tall. The finally looks like a fish that might be considered a koi carp. The spout likewise looks to me like the head of a fish. The two men look like scholars to me. The condition is much like you see it in the 14 photos after the general description. There is a small amount of missing orange paint. Close-ups show two tiny chips along the edge of the oval foot. Otherwise, I do not see any damage or repair. It looks to me like it might never have been used to make tea. My photos should give you a good idea of its general condition. I guarantee this teapot to be as described and represented by the 14 photos after the general description. The photos are part of the description. Please look at all of them. Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there are shadows and reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors. Different monitors may show different colors. Those paying with Paypal must have a confirmed address registered with Paypal. If you pay with Paypal, I will ship only to your confirmed address. I like to leave feedback after I know that the item has arrived and that the buyer is satisfied. I reserve the right to cancel any bids without explanation. Please email me with any questions or suggestions. I do not ship on weekends. I might not be available to answer email on weekends. 14 photos should load with this listing.
