It dates to the late Taisho Era (c.1926) and would have been used to place offerings of sake and food. It is made of cryptomeria with several coats of Japanese black and gold lacquer. Having been used lovingly for nearly a century, with exception of minor signs of past use (see enlarged pictures), this stand remains overall in very fine condition. This altar table is sure to stand the test of time for another century. It sits flat and level and measures 21 1/2" wide by 11 1/2" deep and 12 1/2" tall (54.5 x 29.2 x 31.8 cm).
