Seller: farm2art-tiques (65) 100%, Location: Tucson, Arizona, Ships to: US, Item: 183460772041 Extremely old and rare solid iron Rotary Hoe Wheel with obvious wear and tear and rust on the body and tines. The wheel has no cracks or chips that can be seen and I do not believe that there are any. The tines are all "tightly" attached with the flat head bolts used to assemble it. It is "farm fresh" and even has some "Lichen" growing on it.It was found near Salina KS.The price shown represents my "don't want to sell it" price and I am only posting it for sale because I have another and my "collection" of over 1500 various RHWs is getting out of hand :--)) NOTE NOTE NOTE The first three pictures are of the wheel being offered !!! The last two are for comparison use ONLY and are NOT part of this "offering" !!!! Weight = 24# Tines = 20ea Distance from tine tip to tine tip = 17.25" Center Hub Diameter = 10.5" Square Axel Hole = 1" Wheel Thickness at Hub = 2.5" Large Hole on the back dia. = 4"Markings: The "front" of wheel is stamped with the capitol letter "H" between two bolt heads and the numbers "523" are showing between the next two bolt heads. Also in an inset in the casting are two "Patient Dates". one being "12 - 06" and the other being "3 - 03" ( indicating the dates - month and year - that this wheel had patients issued on it )The manufacture is unknown to the seller BUT this wheel has similarities to another RHW in my collection. That wheel was made by P & O in Canton, IL.. P&O went out of business in 1919 so this wheel is "at least 100 years old. I am including two pictures of the P&O ( the last two ) so that the similarities can be seen. This fact and the Patient Dates on the wheels in this posting seem to give a little validity to my thinking that this wheel might be an "earlier" P&O.I am also under the impression that because this wheel weighs almost twice what later RHWs weigh, it most likely was pulled by a steam driven tractor or one heck of a lot of "oxen" .!!! Condition: Some rust and pitting but in very good condition considering it's farm history, Maker: Unnknown ( possible P&O ), Material: Iron, Theme: Farm Implemnets, Features: Salvage
