Hardy, Jr. 1832-1889 British Known Hunting Artist Info taken from another website http://www.selectfineart.org/sporting.html :"Admired and sought after, this artist's work epitomises the best of English Victorian sporting painting. James Hardy, Jnr. was the son of James Hardy, a landscape painter and brother of Heywood Hardy (1843-1933), who specialised in hunting scenes, coaching and rustic genre. James Hardy was born in Bristol in 1832 and later moved residence to London where his address was Thyra House, Moss Hall, North Finchley in 1880. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1862 to 1886 with titles including: "Gillie on the Lookout", 1871; "Hill Man with Deer Hounds", 1873; "The English Game-keeper", 1874; "Waiting to Collect the Game", 1875; etc. He also exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Arthur Tooth & Sons Gallery, Royal Society of British Artists, New Watercolour Society. Recognition of his work was soon to follow being elected to the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in 1877, Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1883 and the New Watercolour Society in 1877...his ability to capture with absolute accuracy the hunting dog confirmed him as being one of the finest animal painters of the Victorian period. Sporting paintings of this calibre are avidly sought after, but sadly they have become very scarce today." Measures approximately: 11.5" long x 8.75" wide inside matting 13.5" long x 10.5" wide without matt (dimensions from back) Condition: Painting of the ducks are still quite vivid, however, the painting has yellowed from age. In the "sky" area, there is a 1" wide x 2" long stain, as well as many "specks" of some type of dirt mark. The matting is yellowed and torn in areas. Entire piece has that "old smell". There has been no restoration as far as I can tell. Painting probably needs cleaning. There are numbers and writing on the back--"2764", "15x18", "174", "6", "JRitelui (?)" (see photo). ABOUT ME: I have my Florida License as a Mental Health Counselor (Psychotherapist). I have been selling items for my father on eBay since 2009. I've had great feedback on eBay until I made a mistake in an early listing where I took a photo of an Antique Tiffany tray--the flash by accident covered a scratched area and the buyer felt I had done that intentionally, which was not the case = negative feedback #1. Then about a month ago, I was training a new employee that by accident listed a $500 Pocket Watch for $70~It sold immediately before I even had a chance to review my new employees listing! I obviously had to cancel the sale, which earned me negative feedback #2. Please look at all the WONDERFUL FEEDBACK I have received to see that I am an honest, conscientious and professional seller. Shipping to USA locations: I expect to have to wrap this painting very carefully. I will have to buy the right sized box so I can adequately and safely package it without it bending as well as protecting it from the elements of water & moisture during shipping. I do not know ultimately what this will sell for and need to properly INSURE it, so my shipping charge will be a high end guestimate. I promise to refund any shipping overage over $25.00 for gas & handling charge. Shipping OUTSIDE USA: I ship EXPRESS MAIL which is more expensive, but is the only way I can properly INSURE & Track. My shipping price is just a guestimate--if I overcharged you on shipping, I will refund any shipping overage over $25.00.
