Seller: cardi4 (1,424) 100%, Location: Alexandria, Virginia, Ships to: Free Local Pickup, Item: 230849469455 English, c. 1830 (Henry IV, Pre-Victorian), Mahogany Fire Screen This unique English mahogany piece, from about 1830, is in excellent condition and shows a superb level of craftsmanship. Two glass panels sideways and one extends upward from the central fixed glass panel (a total of four panels) so that the lady of the house could avoid the heat from the fire, thus preserving her make up. This fine example of pre-Victorian life of the rich and famous could be used as a map or crochet display or for any important document or textile… perfect for a professional’s office or discriminating decorator. “Downton Abby” no doubt had one on the set. 40” tall by 14” deep by 26” wide – sides extend, approx. 16 inches each side; top goes up about 20 inches. So, when all panels are spread, it is about 58 inches wide, and 60 inches high. Your browser does not support JavaScript.
