Has notch on bottom from where was mounted. Nice lodge style newel post. Has nice 3 sided large diamond pattern, with bullseye style top cap. Has notch on bottom from where was mounted. Does have few soft spots along bottom edge and the bottom of the top of the notch. Overall good solid condition.
