Seller: catamountcurios (1,947) 100%, Location: Tilton, New Hampshire, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 163856871909 You're bidding on an antique "Violet Ray" quack medical device - labeled on the side as "DeElco" and on the top as manufactured by the De Mooy Electric Co. of Cleveland, OH, with a 1906 patent date. Basically, the device creates a small Tesla coil type discharge in various types of glass electrode attachments - the application of the "violet ray" was supposed to cure everything from headaches and dandruff to cancer - until numerous litigations in the 1940s and 1950s put an end to the discredited industry. NOTE - this machine's power supply runs from a lightbulb-type plug, and the wiring looks good but feels like it's turning brittle and is a bit frayed at its connections to the box - So personally, I don't dare test it. Selling as a historical curio only. Also there are no glass electrodes, so it's incomplete for use. SOLD AS IS AS FOUND. That said, it has a cool look - nice wood control box with knob and branding, and cord and wand are still present. Note that something is loose and rattling inside the control box. Inside its original felted box - felt needs some cleanup, but box is solid - although note that the leather handle is split and two of the feet are missing on the bottom. Please review photos carefully to make your own determination of overall condition and appeal, and don't hesitate to ask any questions prior to bidding - thanks for looking! Maker: De Mooy Electric Co, Featured Refinements: Violet Ray
