This pair of doors, either cypress or cedar were removed from one of those homes, and put on the front door of an expensive Ft. Lauderdale home, in the Los Olas Islands. The house was sold renovated, the woman thought they looked too old; I saved them 30 years ago from a decorator, recognizing what they were. I recently moved them to Sebring Florida.I had stayed at an 1840's Greek Revival Key West Bed and breakfast with similar doors, I believe they were used 1840-1880's, but appreciate any advice to date them. They are 80 inches high, each one is 35.5 inches wide. Brass knobs appear original, inside sliding bolt appears to be original. Modern hinges have been added, they would be easy to mount. They need some repair by a good historical carpenter, or if you live near the Amish; visit their best carpenter. The original paint has been beadblasted, they are bare wood..The vanes have unique brass pivots, but the retaining wood strip is split, so needs to be remade so they pivot properly. 22 vanes are out of the doors, I have 18, so believe 3 will have to be made. This type of shutter was used on windows and doors on both floors of Key West homes, and went from porch to top of door or window frame.of interest, they seem almost exactly the size of a modern sliding glass door. Similar shutters may have been used in Southern Antebellum homes, Nelson's Dockyard, Antigua, or other tropical islands. again, any information is appreciated. These are a rare find for anyone restoring an historic home. But may be a priceless pattern for anyone planning to build replicas, for other restorations. The frames are structurally solid, and the brass pivots suitable to use or as a pattern to reproduce. I am located in the downtown historic of Sebring. I could arrange truck shipping, but would prefer local pickup The truck shipping rate given is to MIAMI or FT. LAUDERDALE. If you are overseas and have an agent there. It is NOT for shipping out of the US or to Canada. I could arrange air freight shipping worldwide, but that would be more expensive. Please give me your city, country, postal code and nearest airport. If you need shipping in the US, other than Miami or Ft.Lauderdale, please give me a business address. I will give you the correct shipping rate.they will be boxed for shipping as needed. I could pack these in Spanish Moss, if you need some, but foreign Departments of Agriculture would frown on that. I really want to see this used and appreciated. You may contact me at 1 954 JAGUARS , or C. 1 954 JAGPART .
