Rare Antique Chinese Opera Doll Emperor Puppet

Antique Chinese male Opera Doll, ca. late 1800s ~ 1920, wearing a silk costume finely decorated. The head of the doll is removable. During opera puppet shows, this made for easy wardrobe changes and character shifts. The face is delicately painted features. Fully jointed arms and legs can be posed numerous ways. Thin bamboo poles could be inserted into the hole at the back of the doll.  Amazing detail throughout as seen.  DOES HAVE SOME MISSING FINGERS SO PLEASE REVIEW PHOTOS AS THEY ARE PART OF THE ACTUAL DESCRIPTION. Physical depreciation associated with functional use as a puppet and age. Overall fine example with makers mark on back of head as seen in photos. 

The tradition of Chinese puppetry originated during the Han Dynasty, and grew throughout the Tang, Song and Qing dynasties.  The doll is antique or vintage and may show some discoloration, fading and minor wear. Please ask any questions you might have and we will try to answer.
