See Photos.  Comes from a clean nonsmoking home.  Fantastic patina.  Front scale adjustment works, adjusting the two sides to an equilibrium (or not depending on your wishes).  Side control slides in and out.  Is straight with a spring that removes it from the grains measure tape.  Both cups present.  Hinged top moves up and down easily.  Plate glass top has imperfections.  Dirt simple to replace if that is your thing.  We leave it in its found state to allow for the patina option.  Scale is locked into place with the underside screw bolts for traveling.  The case looks to be made of walnut.  See below for history.  Approx 13" x 5.75" x 7.5" tall.  Weighs just a bit over six pounds.  Seller Lot #22042-RALB. The Torsion Balance Company was preceded by the Springer Torsion Balance Company, whose Certificate of Incorporation was filed on September 7, 1897. On February 8, 1915, The Torsion Balance Company bought the business and carried on under the name of Christian Becker which was engaged in the manufacture and sale of analytical balances. This purchase included the right to the use of the trade name “Christian Becker”. The acquisition of Christian Becker offered opportunity for the introduction of the Torsion Balance into laboratories as a balance less sensitive and less expensive than the analytical balance, but one for which there was a need. This is an early and scarce Torsion Balance Company Apothecary scale, model #260 with glass enclosure. This beautiful piece would make a great display or collectible for the person that collects medical or pharmaceutical instruments.  Listed shipping costs are for the lower 48 (USA) states.
