Valuemystuff.com offered me 2 values in 2014 - AUCTION FAIR MARKET VALUE $2000 - $3000 & INSURANCE VALUE $5000.00 Valuation in quotes and bold text from valuemystuff.com expert Appraiser: "A most intriguing textile. This is unusual and can relate this to similar textiles dated to this time period 1910 that have been attributed to various weaving centres and my gut feeling is Durham in North East England." "An art nouveau decorative cover possibly Durham Northeast England - wool on cotton foundation with hand sewn brocaded hem in typical colored silk threads during this period - 48 inch x 48 inch C. 1910" Added Description: "THE HORIZONTAL BANDED FIELD ENCLOSING ROWS OF STYLIZED POLY CHROME FLOWER HEADS & RELATED FOLIAGE WITHIN A BOLD PANELED BORDER ENCLOSING COMPLEMENTARY FLOWER HEADS AND FLORAL SPRAYS - BANDED SURROUND OUTER BROCADED BORDER SEWN BY HAND IN BRIGHT SILK THREAD ." Condition: This is double woven wool on cotton foundation in 2 separate panels with sewn by hand in olive color silk thread hem brocaded border finished with brightly colored silk thread - Condition excellent for being 109 years old likely never cleaned - without any tears or holes I bought this incredible textile in 1995 from a mid west collection in the same family from the home which was listed as a state historic preservation property built in 1870 which never left their home until the last descendant - the daughter passed away at 98 years old in 1995. She was born in 1897 her parents were wealthy and traveled throughout the world buying textiles and fabric that was stored away never used in moth free storage area of the historic mansion I acquired this coverlet from. From personal research I discovered this coverlet may have been produced anywhere in the world including the US - Roycroft was known for stylized floral textiles similar to this one not just UK as I first believed - Dard Hunter of Roycroft produced textiles mostly in stylized floral poppies - rose - peonies - etc. Wherever this coverlet was produced does matter to collectors looking for specific country of orientation - whoever designed this I haven't found out - but at least I know it's authentic from 1905 - 1910 in unused condition when I found this among hundreds of textiles all in the same collection I knew from first sight that this definitely was special and unique as all the other textiles in this world wide collection dated from early 19th Century to about 1940. 1st time offered - 1st time seen - In my personal collection! According to ebay - their new policy for the money back guarantee program they require signature confirmation and insurance which is covered in shipping and handling costs. I will ship USPS priority mail anywhere in the lower 48 states - not Hawaii or Alaska.
