Antique 19th c. Japanese Samurai Signed sword Tsuba Lacquer Scabbard Saya - Sword blade is signed on one side of tang - - The 8.5” long tang has one hole - blade’s edge extremely sharp had mirror finish with light wear w/ nice Boshi & a beautiful Temper line very wavy -. . Fittings include = Bronze Tsuba with 3 seppa (spacers) one seppa may have a gold foil covering . .– sword has a typical wrap over ray-skin for handle . . Scabbard is Painted Lacquer over wood and appears to have normal wear & original finish with minor scuffs dings from age . There is some black tape around scabbard where sword slips into open of scabbard .. . ...
Sword's measurements = Total length when sword is in Scabbard = 37-3/4” long /
Length of sword out of scabbard= 37” /Length of blade (from end to end)– 34-1/8” long ./ Blade's Edge – 26-1/4” . / Blade width near Tsuba / handle = 1-3/16” wide - /-
Tang length is about – 7-3/4” long. . Scabbard is about 28” long ..
