Superb french Sevres Style porcelain urn signed E. Grisard, mounted on a brass base, circa late 19th C. This style was popular to vases made in or around Paris in the late 19th and early 20th c. The lid is marked SEVRES 1846, and a partial mark of Chateau Des Tuileries.
The urn is a beautiful burgundy red color, almost pink, called " Pompadour Pink", and was the favorite color of Madam de Pompadour. The decorations are enhanced with raised gilt accents.
One side of the urn is decorated with a beautiful maiden and a playful cherub. The center painting has unreal details, the figures look like they are floating.
This front medallion is signed E Grisard lower left.
The other side is decorated with a country road by a lake, leading to a chateau.
Please be advised that the urn has signs of age with crazing throughout, and the handles are discolored due to gilt loss. Some roughness to the edges of the lid, due to previously being sealed tight, not visible unless you take the lid out of the metal mounts.Overall, the urn is in great condition for its age.
