Item is pictured next to a ruler. I have also measured just the casket body not including the length of the feet. Approximate casket box dimensions are as follows: Lid: 4" x 5 7/8" Casket Body: 3 3/4" x 5 5/8" Post Office weighed casket with key for me. They told me the weight is approximately One Pound Two Ounces as shown on their mail scale. For sale Antique Sugar Casket with key, ( still has the key, amazing ). This is my best guess as to what this item is. This item is inscribed, dated and stamped on the bottom. My interpretation of the marks on the bottom ( best guess ) are as follows: W. . . S 2.27. Feburar 1828 (Feburar is February in German). Is stamped on bottom. ( 18 under DBK ) (G.) (1 Cross 2 under a Crown) has Zig Zag (Assayer mark, Tremolierstich ) I do not know what type of metal this item is made of. I am NOT a expert on this item. Item is in very nice condition for being it's estimated ( 189+ Years Old ). Hinge works well, lid fits tight, key/lock works and still has key. Some of the feet/claws/toes are bent. A few areas of the bottom inside and outside show CRACKING & FLAKING. Nuts look different on the inside locking mechanism. A magnet does stick to the square metal locking mechanism on the inside of the casket. See pictures for condition.
