Click images to enlarge Description Egyptian Wadj papyrus amulet A pale turquoise faience amulet in the formof a papyrus sceptre (also known as the Wadj), of nice form, with suspension loop at the upper end with ridged decoration towards the top. Length 3.4 cms (1.3 ins). Condition: Complete and intact, some encrustations remaining. Ptolemaic period: 4th-1st century BC. The papyrus was used in the hieroglyphic script for the word 'wadj', meaning 'fresh', making it an appropriate talismanfor the preservation of the body.
