I am selling a number of smaller sterling silver pieces by A E Jones, Oliver Baker for Liberty and other designers. For sale is this large silver and enamel brooch. Fully hallmarked for Arthur Johnson Smith (AJS), Chester, 1910. The brooch is possibly converted from a very large button. It is a striking piece in very good original condition with just tiny surface enamel loss to two areas, not noticeable to the naked eye. The brooch has diameter of 3.2 cm. Arthur Johnson Smith was a Birmingham manufacturer who occasionally made art nouveau or arts and crafts designs inspired by the likes of Charles Ashbee of the Guild of Handicraft, Archibald Knox for Libertys Cymric range and Omar Ramsden and Alwyn Carr.
