Seller: acquilegia (4,370) 100%, Location: Egham, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 163210057415 An antique, probably Victorian era, carved bovine bone Eqyptian God figure, ThothThis is a most unusual antique figure of the Egyptian deity Thoth, recognisable by his long “beak”. He is shown in typical Egyptian dress and head dress and carries a staff. The item is made from a material similar to bovine bone. The figure is in generally good condition apart from two faults: his left hand would seem to have become detached and very neatly re- attached to his arm (so much so that the join is apparent only upon very close inspection. The “beak” may also have been re-attached very neatly, but on this point I am unsure as it is possible that the piece may have been carved this way. Thoth's headdress is detachable and held on by a pin from the top of his head. The figure stands apon a base which, I think, may be made from goat horn. The figures stands about 8.8 inches (22.5 cm) in height. A rare item for anyone interested in Egyptian history. PLEASE NOTE ALSO|: that I have calculated the postage prices to include extra compensation cover, and via Tracked and Signed services for (hopefully) added piece of mind for both parties.
