Item:132949018570Offered here without reserve is an absolutely wonderful piece of folk art, with a lovely surface. An American Miniature Child's Cupboard, 19th Century Having panel joined construction, the molded rectangular cornice above a cupboard with inset silvered glass panel and single drawer below raised on ogee bracket feet height 17in; width 11 1/2in; depth 7in; case width 9 1/4in Having a nice warm patina, I believe birch is the primary wood and white pine secondary wood, suggesting probably from New England. This cupboard displays typical construction details of the 19th century having chamfered drawer bottoms and paneled sides and back boards. The case is completely fastened together with tongue and groove construction and reinforced with cut nails. I must say there is a considerable amount of wood shrinkage that would prove this piece has quite some age, an honest folk art miniature cupboard. The drawer bottoms are chamfered and tongue and grooved into the sides of drawers and fastened to the drawer front with a nails on each side.nails Nails with great oxidation around them to wood. Great oxidation to the backboard, the back left foot has been broken, but still attached with nails, as well as scattered minor dings and dents. The drawer and cupboard pulls are possibly replaced as a modern screw holds the pull to the drawer now. The top board is later that is fastened onto the case cornice with modern wire nails. Age appropriate wear. Beyond that the pictures will illustrate the rest of this piece. Please message for more images or additional information. All offers are welcome.
