Elisabeth Bergner, born Elisabeth Ettel on August 22, 1897 in Drohobych (Galicia, Austria-Hungary, today in Ukraine) and died on May 12, 1986 in London, is a theater and film actress.

At the beginning of her career, filming in Austrian and German films, she was considered one of the most beautiful actresses of her time. Of Jewish origin, she emigrated after the Anschluss to England. She has notably played the role of Antoinette de Langeais in Paul Czinner's La Duchesse de Langeais, adapted from Honoré de Balzac's eponymous novel.

Her subsequent career in English and then Hollywood (Paris Calling, 1941) was severely handicapped by her inability to get rid of her strong foreign accent, which was rarely compatible at the time with her employment as an ethereal woman.

From the 1950s, she reappeared in German productions.
