MORE PIECES BEING OFFERED @ AUCTION TODAY! In as found condition with general age related wear and a 1" hairline crack on the plate. The creamer has 1 flake chip and a large spider cracks on the upper side of the body which spreads up to the rim and around the spout, must have been dropped on it's side (see the flake chip where I'm pointing in the photo, more felt than seen, I have stuck a piece of cello tape on the inside to keep it more stable, if I were to keep this for my own display I would seal the inside with a 2 part epoxy). The plate measures about 7.25" across, the lot weighs 330 gr unboxed. Features a hand painted iron red bird, floral & scroll pattern parts of which are trimmed with gold. Both are signed. The plate is signed, I believe the first two characters to be the mark of Tashiro and the last 2 Tsukuru, see photo. I found info @ Gotheborg... "Tashiro operated a shop in Yokohama and had distinctively decorated pieces sometimes by Kutani trained artists. Typical eggshell was sold by this shop. The shop ceased business in 1937" and "Kutani Tsukuru; a plain Kutani tsukuru is rarely seen." The creamer is signed only with the Tashiro mark. Would make a great addition to your collection!
