We have seen a number of very fine Greek miniatures, but none can compare to this incredible example. Pottery pouring vessel called a prochous decorated with the 3/4 view of a Satyr with added white beard, eyebrows, and curly hair with hearts/grape cluster in the field, large palmette at the rear. This is a masterpiece in miniature and as fine as any vessel created in this region of the world. Attributed to the Chevron Group, active in Southern Italy between 350 and 335 BCE, with examples by this group in the finest museums in the world including the Getty, Met, British Museum, and Louvre.
