Item:382272233601Rare Framed Trio of Venezuelan Stone Figures Pre-Columbian, Western Venezuelan Andes, Tierra de los Indios culture, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A framed arrangment of three carved figural pendant charms, carved from green steatite stone. The central figure, who most likely represents a chief or lord, is flanked by a pair of frogs. Frogs were particularly meaningful to many Pre-Columbian cultures as they symbolized rainfall and the sustenance that it brings. This lovely ensemble is mounted upon a woven fiber and set within a lovely wooden frame. Size: anthropomorphic figure measures 3-3/4" (9.5 cm), frogs measure 1-1/2" (3.8 cm); frame measures 15 5/8 (40 cm) x 11 5/8" (29.5 cm). #108486 Condition: Intact with nicely aged surfaces and expected wear.
