A wonderful set of 6 antique or vintage ribbonwork flower applique dress ornaments on the original cards. For garters and lingerie as the cards advertise. Ribbonwork flower making was actually a cottage industry for crafty housewives during the flapper era, 1910's to 1940s. They made the flowers by hand and attached them to cards for sale in local retail lingerie shops.
This is fabulous set of red roses, a seldom seen color since most of ribbon flowers tend towards the pastels. The cards measure about 2-3/4" by 3-5/8" and the roses including the leaves are about 2 inches long.
Some of the cards have brown spots from age. This is seen more on the back with only a few showing on the front. Some small bends on corners or slight impressions in the paper.
All original.
