Shipped with USPS First Class Package. Scarab, also known as a dung-beetle. It lays its eggs in a ball of dung and rolls it to hide in a safe place. From this unlikely substance the Egyptians observed new life emerging, so the scarab came to be considered a symbol of new life and regeneration. Consequently all amulet in its form became one of the most important of the funerary amulets put within a mummy’s wrappings. Since it was termed a heart scarab, it should be made of a green stone. The colour of new vegetation and hence new life, but any green material or even a dark-colored hard stone, presumably with the ability to last forever, came to be used. Ideally the heart scarab should be inscribed with words from the book of the dead, the so-called heart scarab formula, which would bind the heart to silence when it was weighed in the underworld to ascertain its owners worthiness to enter the Egyptian equivalent of heaven. This scarab from Egyptian late period 600-300 BC
