DESCRIPTION: Icludes the following 3 items - * A Roman bronze "knee" brooch. The surfaces are sage green with areas of pale earthen highlighting. The coiled spring is fitted through a small vertical plate projecting beneath the fan shaped spring cover. The head has the small fan shaped cover typical of this type, which is decorated with finely punch marked linear geometric patterns. The catch plate drops down from below the foot to hold the coiled pin, which is original. Part of the catch plate is missing and there is minor abrasion to the bow. Otherwise, intact. * A bronze foot detached from a small Roman statuette of a Bull. The foot displays finely cast anatomical details. The original statuette from which it came may have been intended to represent Jupiter /Zeus or may have been part of a larger sculptural group with scenes of religious sacrifice. Well preserved with a dark green patina. * A child's ring in cast bronze. Dating from the early post-Medieval period (16th-17th Century), this tiny ring's loop has a rounded outside and flat inside profile. The shoulders to either side of the bezel are decorated with foliate designs in low relief. The round, slightly raised bezel is decorated with a double diamond-shaped pattern in low relief. Intact with a deep green-brown patina. PROVENANCE: Formerly in a UK private collection through 2013.
