THE LISTENER MAGAZINE Published by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) August 16th, 1945 - Vol XXXIV, No 866 Please scroll down for additional pictures These vintage The Listener  magazines are a wonderful resource of news and contemporary thought - giving insight to the news, politics and current affairs of the world. There are articles and lots of pictures (in black & white), and these just war-time issues are particularly interesting! There are details about Radio Broadcasts, and there are transcripts of important broadcasts, including Winston Churchill, The King and other important figures - a truly fascinating look back at history as it was actually happening! In this issue:
  • Cover picture - Michael Ayrton
  • Japan Surrenders by C. R. Attlee – Broadcast Announcement
  • The Genesis of the Atomic Bomb - Sir Geoffrey Taylor, Sir Charles Darwin, Sir Edward Appleton
  • What Can We Learn from the War? By Prebendary J. W. Welch
  • Days Charged with Destiny by Barbara Ward
  • Flying without a Motor by Hugh C Bergel - Gliding
  • In Czechoslovakia Today by R. L. Miall
  • The First Man Never Wins by Negley Farson – Canada
The magazine is large format, measuring appoximately 33cm by 25cm, with pages 170 - 196

Condition:  The magazine is in good vintage condition, some vintage water staining and showing reading wear and some creasing to the covers, plus the paper is fragile and tanned with age with some brown spotting and the staples have rusted. There is a newsagent ’ s delivery name written on the front cover in pencil.  Given that the magazine is around 75 years old, its condition is very good, but certainly not perfect! The magazine pictured below is the one you will receive.

I accept returns, and if you’d like any further information, just ask! FBS 1B9  _gsrx_vers_1326 (GS 8.4.1 (1326))
