Seller: floriptw (878) 100%, Location: Lake Ann, Michigan, Ships to: US, Item: 202761863286 Dovetail Saw - 16ppi rip - 1 5/8” depth of cut - hand sharpened - hammer set teeth - Cherry handle - screws are brass - 9” toothline - folded brass back - .018” thick plate This is a premium handsaw and will go head to head with any saw on the market. Here are some things that make it unique. First- The sharpening. This saw has been rough filed with a traditional triangular file and followed with a custom made diamond hone. This puts a sharper edge on the teeth than is possible with a standard file. Compare a file sharpened edge to a honed edge...there is a difference. Construction- All component of this saw were made in-house. You may think this is the standard for premium saws, that’s not the case. You can pay close to twice as much for a similar saw, what you’re paying for is their overhead from sourcing parts (even saw handles) from outside sources. What enters my shop as raw material leaves as a finished product. Steps of making a saw... Blade - shear blade/plate blank from roll of 1095 blue tempered spring steel - cut teeth into the blank - even the plate tension using a slip roll - grind/polish the plate perfectly flat under flood coolant using a hydraulic surface grinder - rough sharpen - hammer set the teeth - joint the teeth - final sharpen - dress the toothline Back - cut a strip of material from a sheet of material (brass, bronze, steel, nickel silver) - stamp the blank - first fold of the material using my shop built hydraulic press - anneal material - closing fold at the same press - roll the back straight - machine the bottom flat at the vertical mill - sand and buff - install on the saw plate Screws - cut lengths of round stock to proper size - machine at the lathe (manual lathe or CNC depending on the quantity desired) - engrave the blanks at the CNC router - remove burrs - install Handle - make CAD file matching the desired saw handle pattern - select rift/quartersawn material for the blank - size to specification - cut out rough blank using a CNC router - drill, slot, chamfer, rasp, and sand - oil and wax Once assembled, a saw will be tuned to ensure it is cutting properly. I’ve built over 1000 handsaws and guarantee my saws for life. Take care of it and it’ll take care of you. Condition: New, Featured Refinements: Dovetail Saw
