Thanks and Have Fun. 5421 Japanese Kimono Iro-Uchikake Luxurious Wedding Pure Silk - BLACK + Ecru - Bouquets, Baskets, Golden Bamboo I believe this is the older of the Uchikake that I am listing. It is heavily embroidered but also screen printed (background portions are black and red/orange) also heavily laden with gold. Since bamboo trees are the fastest-growing plants in the world, they’re often associated with continuous growth, and the commitment to learning and developing. Bamboo is also hollow on the inside, and it grows quite simply. This reminds us that we should never be too full of ourselves and to make sure we keep an open mind and stay open to possibilities of exploration and growth. The Uchikake is a lined silk robe with a wadded or padded hem, worn over another garment without a sash, usually for formal occasions or stage performances. The origins of the use of this garment among women of the samurai elite can be traced back to the Kamakura period (1185–1333) **This kimono has been used and has one small, faded tea mark on the front - near waist - about 1" See pictures. I know this is not difficult to remove but I prefer the new owner remove it as they see fit. I suggest taking it to a good dry cleaner for spot removal - the rest of the kimono is very clean.** I am happy to take additional pictures. This kimono has no issues other than the one small tea spot, is clean and no odor, or other stains etc. All embroidery is perfect.
