This is a never before offered and Very RARE Disney VoluntEars At Play Mickey Mouse Ears Construction Sign, from Disneyland Resort's collaboration with KaBOOM! on the building of several playgrounds for children in the Anaheim, Orange County area in the early 2010's. This sign was likely one of several posted around the construction sites as Disney VoluntEars built each of these playgrounds. This sign is extremely rare, as these signs were not meant to be held onto or reused and were likely discarded by Disney along with excess building material and debris after the jobs were done. I cannot find an image of one, or one that has ever been mentioned before in the press or offered for sale anywhere online. This sign is shaped and colored like a traditional construction sign, and reads: "CAUTION DISNEY VOLUNTEARS AT PLAY," with the Disney logo and Mickey Mouse ears in the center. Approximately 26 1/2 x 26 1/2 inches. Good condition for age and outdoor construction use, with light edge wear and a few speckles of soiling throughout. This piece is comprised of a hard plastic like material, and has the remnants of a barcoded label on the verso, along with some velcro that was used to affix it to a wall (please see photos.) This is probably the only one you will ever see again. Priced to Sell. Acquired in Orange County, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer! Disneyland Resort Helps Build Sixth Playground in Orange County, California On Saturday, more than 200 volunteers from Disneyland , Anaheim Family YMCA, KaBOOM!  and Anaheim came together to build a new playground at John Marshall Park, less than five miles from the Disneyland Resort. This is the sixth KaBOOM! playground  that the Disneyland Resort has helped sponsor and build in Orange County since 2011 . The playgrounds provide more than 8,500 children a safe place to play! By the end of 2014, Disney’s support will bring the magic of play to more than 75,000 kids and families nationwide as part of Magic of Healthy Living , encouraging kids and families to stay active and healthy.

Disney VoluntEARS Build New Playspace for Veterans’ Families

Last week, 140 Disney VoluntEARS—a team that consisted of senior leaders, including Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger, Heroes Work Here veterans and Golden Oak Ranch staff members—helped transform an empty lot in Santa Clarita, California, into a kid-designed playspace in less than eight hours. Habitat for Humanity volunteers, along with local residents and organizers from KaBOOM!, also lent a hand to make the project come to life. Located on a campus that’s home to veterans’ families, the playground was designed to help former service members make the transition to civilian life.

The community’s youth also contributed to the design of the space by creating drawings inspired by their favorite ways to play. The mini-artists can now enjoy the fruits of their labor, all while spending time outdoors with their parents, siblings and neighbors.

Through Disney’s support, this playground will serve as a creative outlet aimed at inspiring and enriching more than 1,000 children in Santa Clarita. It will also provide visitors with a location to get active and balanced play, make friends and open their imaginations.

The project was made possible with support from Disney Magic of Healthy Living, an initiative encourages families to lead healthier and more active lifestyles. By the end of 2014, Disney’s support will bring the magic of play to more than 75,000 kids and families.

Disney VoluntEARS Build Safe Place to Play in Less Than a Day

What good is a Boys & Girls Club without a place for the kids to play? More than 250 volunteers from the Pine Hills community, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, the non-profit KaBOOM!, and Disney lent some elbow grease toward building a new, much-needed playground at the Walt Disney World Clubhouse of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. In less than six hours, the group constructed a safe new play space to serve nearly 1,000 local children as a great place to play.

“We are humbled by the tremendous generosity and volunteerism demonstrated by every individual who took part in our playground build,” said Gary Cain, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida president. “We are grateful to our always supportive corporate partner, Walt Disney World Resort, for their continued enthusiasm and dedication to our mission and to the children we serve each year. We also recognize our new friends at KaBOOM! for facilitating this important project. Thanks to both these great organizations and to the hundred of community volunteers who helped to make our dream playground a reality, children in the Pine Hills community have a safe and interactive place to play.”

Boys & Girls Club members had a hand in designing the 2,704 square-foot playground, which includes features such as a Slither Slide, a Tic-Tac-Toe activity wall, a Cliff Hanger, a Silo Climber, a Rockblocks Climber, a swing set and much more. In a single day, hard-working volunteers moved more than 48,600 square feet of safety surfacing – enough to cover more than 10 NBA-sized basketball courts. Volunteers also mixed 22,480 pounds of concrete by hand, which is more than the weight of 44 adult tigers.

“Children need safe places to play that encourage healthy, physical activity,” says Eugene Campbell, vice president of Community Relations and Minority Business Development for Walt Disney World Resort. “Disney is honored to have a part in building this playground for the children of Pine Hills. We support Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida in their mission to inspire youth to reach their full potential. This new playground will help nurture creativity and aid in the healthy development of children for years to come.”

Disney has committed to honoring volunteers this year by offering free tickets to over 1 million guests who first volunteered in their community. Those tickets have all be claimed, but voluntEARing remains an important part of the Walt Disney World fabric.

KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization dedicated to saving playtime, oversaw the playground’s development. The project kicked off with a Design Day on March 17 in which children from the Club and the surrounding community drew their dream playgrounds, which were then incorporated into the final design of the playground built by the volunteers. KaBOOM! envisions a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America. Since 1996, KaBOOM! has used its innovative community-build model to bring together business and community interests to construct more than 1,700 new playgrounds, skate parks, sports fields and ice rinks across North America.
