Seller: pennantique (3,674) 98.3%, Location: Scranton, Pennsylvania, Ships to: US, Item: 263693868500 Penn Antique Restoration 36"x90"x1.75" Antique Chestnut Tudor Entry Door w/Arched Beveled Glass Stunning, rare, antique, front entrance door salvaged from a 1920's Tudor style home in Central New Jersey. The door has a solid Douglas Fir core covered with 3/16" thick chestnut veneers on each side. This is one heavy door--over 100lbs! It a pointed-arch window with beveled glass accented by 2 triangular, raised panels above and a single, square, raised panel below. Please note that chestnut is a rare and valuable wood; it’s not commercially available due to the blight introduced between 1900 & 1908, which made the North American chestnut trees virtually extinct by 1940. Hardware: The door is not equipped with hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the door (check out our eBay store). * If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote. Uneven Height: The door's height was unevenly cut by 1/4" at some point, most likely to compensate for an old warped floor or settling foundation. We could cut the door to an even 89 3/4", cut it shorter/narrower, or even build it up to make it taller/wider--email us for a quote. Condition: Considering that this door was installed and used for almost a century, it's in excellent condition! The following are the most noticeable blemishes: two clusters of nail holes from previously installed curtain hardware, in the top corners of the interior side; nicks and dents in bottom rail of the exterior side and in middle/cross rail of the interior side; and small, chipped/missing veneer on left edge of the bottom rail, on the interior side. The nail holes and nicks/dents could be filled with wood putty prior to staining or painting, and the missing veneer could also be filled with putty if painting, or filled with wood (oak and ash has nearly the same grain as chestnut). The door is strong and sturdy, and is ready for another lifetime of service. The glass is fully intact and only has subtle scratches here and there; no breaks, cracks, or spalls. Refinish/Repaint: We could refinish, repaint, or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish. See the last photos in this auction as an example of our work. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote. Swing: The door is currently set up to swing into a house, towards the right. However, we can modify the door to swing in a different direction--Email us for a quote. Modification: We could also modify this door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace the glass with a wooden panel or different glass, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
