Elegant, interior door salvaged from an old home in
northeast, PA. It's made of solid Douglas Fir
or pine and is stained on both sides.
When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine
hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have
the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities
that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also
much harder and stronger than young pine .
Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of hardware to outfit them (check out our eBay store).
* If you would like the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote.
Uneven Size:
The doors width was unevenly cut by 1/4",
while the height was unevenly cut by 1/2". The
cuts were made most likely to compensate for a warped floor or sagging
foundation. We could cut the door to an even height/width, cut
it shorter/narrower, or even build it up to a larger size--message us
for a quote.
Condition:
The door is strong, sturdy, and in excellent condition. It has nicks and scratches, but no breaks, cracks, gouges, rot, warp, or any other serious issues. Most of the blemishes that it has will
disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks".
Swing: The door is
set up to swing into a room towards the right or away towards the left. We could change the swing of the door---email us for a quote.
Modification: Do you want to replace the panel with glass, screen/mesh, or something else? We could modify the door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
Dimensions:
29 5/8" - 29
7/8" x 77 3/4" - 78 1/4" x 1 3/8" Too tall, short, wide or narrow? We could increase or decrease the height and/or width--email us for a quote.
