Seller: pennantique (3,678) 98%, Location: Scranton, Pennsylvania, Ships to: US, Item: 273545350065 Penn Antique Restoration 27"x78" Antique Interior Door w/6 Raised Panels Distressed, interior door salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. It is made of solid poplar wood, and is stained on the exterior side and painted white on the interior side. The door also has a lovely, 6 raised, horizontal, stacked panel arrangement on both sides. Hardware: Aside from a mortise lock, the door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware in our eBay store, and tons more in our physical store. * If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote. Condition: The door is structurally sound, but has several cosmetic issues: There are some deep scrapes and scratches--mostly on the exterior side. If you're planning on staining and finishing, you'll need to sand or plane the door down about 1/16" to get rid of them all. However, if you prefer a distressed look or are painting, just some sanding will do. There is about 1/8" separation between the top of the lock stile and the top panel (see photo). This happens naturally due to the wood expanding and contracting in response to the changes in temperature and humidity. The gap could be closed with some glue and clamps, and possibly a dowel or two. There is also a decent-size break or chunk missing from the edge of the exterior side of the hinge stile. We could make a rectangular cut and fill it with solid wood to rebuild the edge. We could make that repair, as well as do anything else to prep the door for you--email us for a quote. Otherwise, the door is strong and sturdy. We have repaired doors that were in much, much worse condition and they fixed up nicely. After a little bit of work, this door will be ready for another 100+ years of service. Refinish/Repaint: We could refinish, repaint, or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish. See the last photos in this auction as an example of our work. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote. Swing: The door is set up to swing into a room towards the right. However, we could change it to swing towards the left--email us for a quote. Modification: We could also modify this door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace wooden panels with glass, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
