Item:233312627271OK - this is an interesting story. Back in around 2000, I purchased museum-quality c10th C Byzantine gold ring depicting an angel holding a cross in victory. I manufactured jewelry at the time, and got our maker in NY to make a mold of it. Then - here is the interesting part - I asked them how the Byzantines would have refined their gold, and I was told they would have been using found nuggets and simply melting them. So I worked with some prospectors in Alaska and bought a big pile of gold nuggets that they had found. My maker in NY melted them, assayed them at 22K (90+%) and cast for me five replicas. Each of the replicas was stamped JJ Kent 22K. JJ Kent was my jewelry company. I intended to make an entire line of ancient reproductions, but the project wouldn't work financially, so I didn't proceed. I am left with these five rings. I am keeping one of them, and selling 4. You are bidding on just ONE ring, of course. I have two size 6, one 9 and one 10.5. I will update the listing as they sell. They can easily be sized. (If you buy one, just email me the size you want, and I will delete it from this listing. If you are reading this - then I still have all four) They are really solid. Together, they weigh 1.33 ounces, which at 22K means they have 1.21 ounces of pure gold. That's 0.3 ounces of pure gold per ring. At $1500 an ounce gold, melt value is exactly $450. I am selling these for just $700 each. Since there are only 5 in the world, you will never run into anyone else with one. They are indistinguishable from ancient ones since I had the maker duplicate Byzantine jewelry making (in terms of the heat of the gold, etc). Of course, they are stamped JJ Kent on the back, so they aren't trying to trick anyone. But they identical to the museum piece. I have to check the back to figure out which one is the original. Anyway, this was a passion project that never took off (I have lots of those!) but I want them to go to people who love and appreciate them.Condition:New, Material:Gold
