Here are some interesting facts about this Satin Finish - Mint Cello/Mint set collections.Satin Finish Coins:Beginning in 2005, the United States Mint started using a new process for producing coins to be sold exclusively in United States Mint Sets. These are known as satin finish coins. They are distinctly different in appearance, almost as dramatic a difference as there is between a proof coin and a business strike. As with proof coins, there seems to be some confusion with the new designation of coin. Often people use "proof" as a description of the grade of their coins. As the well-seasoned collector knows, "proof" is not a grade, but a coin which is produced from an entirely different method. This is also the case with satin finish coins; they're a different coin not a different grade. These new types of coins (Satin Finish) are so far available ONLY in US Mint Sets. The Mint has announced that starting 2011, they will no longer use the Satin Finish process on Mint Set coins. So the only satin coins issued for the mint cello is in between the 2005 & 2010Also you can read more details in this eBay link “Collecting Satin Finish United States Coins”http://www.ebay.com/gds/Collecting-Satin-Finish-United-States-Coins-/10000000020942002/g.htmlMint Cello:Annual sets of coins used to be issued by the Mint in cellophane packs. Coins which are still stored in this original cellophane plastic can be designated as "Mint Cello" coins. Here at Dave's Collectible Coins we sell a lot of individual coins and will often cut the cellophane package into the different coin denominations and sell the separate coins still sealed in their own piece of the original mint cellophane. Modernly the US Mint issues their annual coin sets in stiff plastic and not cellophane. So that we don't have to create another word, coins stored in this stiff plastic are still referred to as "Mint Cello" coins. For practical purposes, a Mint Cello coin is a coin which has been untouched by human hands since leaving the mint. The details of each set is:2005 Satin FinishBoth Mint sets include:- Sacagawea Gold Colored Dollar (1),-Kennedy Half Dollar (1),-Roosevelt Dime (1),-Jefferson Nickel (2),-Lincoln Cent (1) and-The five states quarters from the seventh of the ten year series. The quarters include one each representing: California, Minnesota, Oregon, Kansas and West Virginia.
