Pair Lawrence Jones Spoons A matched pair of English Brittania Standard silver spoons dating to the William III period, made by Lawrence Jones.*  Trefid-end handles with reeded rat-tail attachment, bowls decorated with ornate floral repousse, the handles engraved with leaves and flowers.  The spoons date to turn of the 17th century, but I believe the decoration was added later.  The spoons bear identical hallmarks with four stamps; the Brittania standard (95.8% silver) and lion's head erased, for London, date code for the year 1700, and the makers mark "J.o." for Lawrence Jones, well-known spoon maker of the period.  A fine pair for the collector.  *A big thank you to HAMILTONHALLMARKS for assisting me with identifying the maker. One spoon, sightly distorted bowl with two fractures.  Other wear expected with age, some stubborn tarnish.  7 5/8" long, 1 5/8" cross bowl.  88 grams weighed together.
