A regiment of the Second Cavalry takes a short reconnaissance ride from Fort Ellis, Montana. The soldiers have stopped to rest the horses and themselves before the onset of winter. As a rule, most people view things from left to right...it's a habit from reading. So, by camouflaging the two blackfeet Indians, it is my hope that the viewer will pass over the Indians on the extreme left of the painting, continue on down the row of horses to the soldier walking off the extreme right end of the painting. Having most of the horses turned and looking off to the right helps to subtly force the viewer's eye to the right and away from the discovery of the Indians. Discovering the Indians last rather than first helps to make the story more believable and is more fun. These Blackfeet Indians are about to be two horses richer, hence the title, Two Indian Horses . There is also a Big Poster print that is 12" X 25" unmounted and 18" X 30" mounted/matted Titled "Woodland Encounter" Bev Doolittle discusses the story behind her Fine Art Print Woodland Encounter. Woodland Encounter, painted well along in my career, is a deliberate study in camouflage by misdirection, which grew out of my effort to break all the normal 'rules of compostion.' The bright-colored fox, deadcenter, distracts the eye from whatever is going on in the busy snowscape surrounding him. And the richness of design -a wonderful, natural part of the trees themselves-- also gave me the opportunity to play games with the traditionally accepted uses of space that govern a well conceived piece of art. Also in this Book is : Bev Doolittle's Print "Spirit of the Grizzly" is Unframed and Unmounted 8 inch by 12 inch print by Bev Doolittle . When this print is Mounted and Framed, like in the above picture, it is a 14"X18". It will come to you intact in the book ready to be mounted. "The Spirit of the Grizzly " The Plains Indians had intimate knowledge and deep respect for the animals that shared his environment.. He especially coveted the courage , strength and hunting skills of animals like the eagle, wolf and bear.. By wearing the fur, feathers and claws of these great hunting animals he hoped to possess a part of their SPIRIT.. This mystical print by Bev Doolittle portrays the feelings beautifully.. as only BEV DOOLITTLE could do.. This is one of her very BEST and MOST sought after prints. Also in this book is Bev Doolittle's Print "Let My Spirt Soar" You are Recieving a Beautiful Unframed and Unmounted 9 inch by 12 inch "Doves & Indian", print by Bev Doolittle . When this print is Mounted and Framed, like in the above picture, it is a 14"X18". This Print will come to you intact in the book ready to be mounted. A stunning, emotionally spiritual rendition of a young Blackfoot Indian woman meditating at the river?s edge, her favorite serene place to reflect and dream. As her face is bathed in sunlight, instead of her physical reflected image appearing in the water, her peaceful and uplifting thoughts are symbolized in the form of birds soaring into the air. The Book also has "The GOOD OMEN" with the Eagle, as shown mounted above. Bev Doolittle is one of the most successful painters of her time; her success has been a by-product of her desire to create meaningful art. Bev Doolittle's work reflects her love of horses, passion for the natural world and her affinity for the Native American's spiritual relationship to the land. Nearly all of Bev's prints have been sell-outs. Bev's art is in high demand and will continue to be sought after by art lovers.
