We have a 19 th Century one you will love. You can place your brass or bronze Mortar in the hole to hold it securely. Depositing your Pestle securely upon two hooks at 12 o’ clock so it doesn’t roll out on the floor. This is a Flemish or Amish style you can’t buy today. Early Herbalists, Cooks, and Druggists used their mortars to make wonderful, marvelous, magical wonders. To protect this sacred tool was paramount. Iron Mortar Holders and detailed designed fancy Wooden Boxes were placed high on the wall to protect it and their concoctions from prying eyes. This Iron type allows you to hang herbs or cloth bags of your concoctions from the trees branches. Usually, the Recipes were usually glued on or under each bottle. Sometimes they were secured in another secret place. After all, they were always a secret you never shared with anyone but maybe one member of your family. A Mortar Rack was often decorated with dots or twisting designs so a witch would have to count them and follow each path to enter the box or the house.
