A delightful and unique small antique wooden folk art painted keepsake box.   It probably dates to the late 19th Century. The box has machine cut dovetails, a hinged lid and metal clasp closure. Primitive hand painted decoration on all sides, except the bottom, with five hearts on the lid. Colors of green, red, yellow and black. The box measures 10 1/4" wide by 8 1/4" by 3 1/2".  It is in good overall structural condition. There are nicks, scuffs and chips to the painted surface but the paint is stable. Some fading of the colors with age. There are several small round nail holes on the inside of the box on the bottom indicating it was perhaps hung on a wall at one time. There are two small holes on the front of the box to the right of the clasp and their purpose is unknown. Wonderful antique folk art piece in original paint.
