These rolls are from a relatives hoard that we have been selling. We have 80 of these rolls that were most likely acquired in Las Vegas in the mid to late 50s. Some of the rolls appear to have BU end Jefferson Nickels, others have circulated Buffalo Nickels and a few ends have silver nickels from 1942-1945. I am selling these in order as they come out of the box. We have opened 2 rolls and are not selling those but the contents of those rolls were the rolling; 1 roll contained all 1958 BU nickels, 1 rolls had a wide assortment with several Buffalo nickels but mostly 1940s-1950s Jefferson’s. These are plain brown wrappers with “SANDS” logo “LAS VEGAS, NEVEDA” FOLLOWED BY THE NEXT 2 LINES OF “$1.00” “NICKELS” The roll contains 20 nickels or $1.00 or also called a short roll. Given out by casinos either as incentives to play or in smaller rolls making it easier to carry. Most of these rolls were never saved as they were in such low denominations and many just put them in the machine. Since payouts were usually converted to dollar bills casinos tended to encourage the players to accept bills keeping the change in Las Vegas to keep the machines playing and adverting any shortage. Also by doing so kept the casinos independent of acquiring items from outside such as the federal reserve and banks. Allowing many casinos to run the lower end slots without much notice from the regulators. These rolls were most likely rolled privately at the casino vs having them delivered from the banks or armored cars. Keeping a closed loop on this big Vegas business. Very limited quantities. We have a total of 2 boxes that contained 80 rolls (2 opened) leaving 78 to sell - when gone they are gone.Condition:Used, Condition:These are original short nickel rolls from SANDS CASINO - LAS VEGAS. BROWN WRAPPER - EXPECT SOME FADING, FRAYING, TONED ENDS. CONSISTENT WITH AGE. BOTH CIRCULATED AND UNCIRCULATED NICKELS ESTIMATED FROM1920 TO EARLY 1960s.
