July 17, 1955, Disneyland opened it's doors to the public with opening day being televised to nearly 7 million viewers. On TV everything looked like Disneyland was going to be everything Walt said it would be. And the Public ate it up hook line and sinker. But that was just what was being shown on the tube. What was really happening was a lot of doubt going on in the inner ranks in Walts world. A lack of confidence by some investors, and things really not going as planned in real time at the park that day. In that brief moment in time, no one really knew if the park would ever get its wings and take off and fly like Walt dreamed it would. It was decided a poster campaign was needed which ignited many of the early cartoon animation artists working for Disney at that time to come up with some very cool pieces. Like this poster showing  Mickey Mouse just dropping in from outer space to check out the Rocket to the Moon attraction in Tomorrow land. This poster showing Mickey standing next to the huge rocket and many more like it really did work in getting people from all over the country wanting to get to that unknown city located somewhere in Southern California called Anaheim where the house of the Mouse has located a place called Disneyland. It took a little less than a years time before Disneyland became one of the biggest tourist destinations in the country.
