You are bidding on a 5 Pesos Philippine Guerilla Currency banknote issued by the Negros Occidental Province in 1941. After the Japanese invasion of China in 1937, the US placed an oil embargo on Japan and followed this measure with increased economic pressure. Feeling the pinch of the American-British-Dutch sanctions, Japan prepared for war. On 7 December 1941 Japan attacked the US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor. The Japanese also launched offensives against Allied forces in South East Asia - with simultaneous attacks on Hong Kong, British Malaya and the Philippines. The outbreak of war resulted in a critical shortage of coins and small denomination banknotes in the Philippines. To provide desperately needed currency, President Quezon created Currency Committees and authorized Provincial Governments to print Emergency Currency. Bid now to own a piece of History! I have described the note as best I can. However, I am not a professional currency grader, so please examine the image and bid accordingly.
Condition: Circulated note with soiling, edge wear and some folds. The grading I will leave for you to judge from the images provided - What you see, is what you get!
Please look at my other selection of banknotes listed this week! Win multiple items and pay one combined shipping cost.
