The typeface development programme was led by Monotype's Typographic Consultant Stanley Morison, who was almost certainly responsible for the prefatory notes.
This type of promotional material was extensively used by Lanston Monotype, since it enabled them to show the typeface is use. The printed label on the front cover, which would have been fixed by hand, implies a limited edition, aimed at printers who used the Monotype composing system.
The publication has 36 pages (26 printed) in saddle-stitched signatures/sections. It measures approximately 205 x 130mm (8 x 5in).
This is a fine specimen of a rare publication, not normally seen outside of specialist collections and libraries (such as, for instance, the Schwarzman Rare Books Collection in the New York Public Library). This makes it highly collectable.
