Seller: 2007stringer (966) 100%, Location: Leslie, Missouri, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 263549761411 Crowned E import and duty mark of the French Empire 1809-1819. The E for Etranger=foreign. In the areas which were annexed by the French ( today The Netherlands and Belgium) from 1809 until 1814, this mark was also used as tax free census mark, without guarantee on the standard of fineness. The mark occur rather frequently on objects bearing the older marks of the Dutch guilds and duty marks Kingdom of Holland (French regime) and the later proper hallmarks Kingdom of Holland 1807-1811. There is a crowned E hallmark and also worn makers mark on silver mid section part. Worn makers mark shown on last photo after carefully removing cloth to expose. The width is 6" and the height is 10" from the the tallest part of the latch to the bottom, not including the fringe and it weighs approx.10 ozs.Please see the other items we are listing this week.
