Seller: greenthumb007 (3,660) 100%, Location: Reading, Pennsylvania, Ships to: US, Item: 132295725652 Country: Canada, Circulated/Uncirculated: Uncirculated Test Notes, Type: Trial Notes For Approval, Details: Here pictured is a Duranote specimen test note. It is a polmer banknote produced with a patent by Mobil Chemical and Agra Vadeko of Canada. This banknote test specimen would have been used by Canada if the project would have been approved. The obverse depicts a modern oil rig, and the reverse depicts a team of horses handling oil well supplies(1924 Greenbow Archives). It is the one hundred unit type. All duranotes offered advanced countereit protection through being constructed of 21 ultrathin layers of OPP film. Supposedly cheaper to produce and lasted 4 times longer than conventional notes, did not get 'dirty', and stayed 'chrisp'. The clear security wondow allowed a choice of numerous embedded security features- it would be extremely hard - almost impossible- to copy. This type features a caribou on the obverse window. These polymer type notes are now used by over 30 countries in the world. The US Bureau of Engraving and Printing actually had 40 K or so sheets of Duranote currency printed, but decided against the polymer note at that time. These US sheets are reported as being desroyed. A scarce find from a local estate, and I do have a few other types I will list later. Please email with any questions at least 12 hours before the end of the auction. USA shipping is $3.50. International will be extra costs. Payment is expected within 5 business days. Thank you for looking. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool.
