Condition: This ancient Chines grayware, carafe style, clay wine pitcher (in Chinese "Hu") dates to the early Han Dynasty and is in very good condition for being over 2,000 years old. It does have both mineral and iron deposits on the surface from being buried within a damp tomb. Very RARE, ancient Chinese pictographic characters identifying this as a ritual wine vessel have been painted in a gray slip beneath the ash residue left after firing in a low-temperature kiln.
