Knickerbocker was founded in 1850 and the first teddy bears were marketed c1920. Producing in New York, and later moving to New Jersey c1968, Knickerbocker moved some production to Asia. Trademark "Animals of Distinction" and in the 1950s "Joy of a Toy" was added to the logo tag. Lionel Trains purchased Knickerbocker in 1979 but went bankrupt in 1984. Company was resurrected in 1993 under new ownership.
