UPDATE: If you've looked at this item in the past, please note that I have since purchased four brand-new socket covers to replace the three missing, and one "aged", socket covers that were originally part of this set. These four new socket covers are now part of this auction. See last two images. These lights will require re-wiring. I've left the old wiring intact for the sake of reference only. I'd recommend buying some black, single strand, 12 - 14 gauge wire at your local home improvement store. I do not see a maker's mark on these. On the back side of each of the doubles is the number P 265. I don't see anything on the single unit. I do not know the age of these lights, but the wiring suggests "old." If I had to guess, just based on the wiring, I'd guess that they're from the 1930's - 1940's. They're being sold "as-is" with regard to age and my use of the term "antique." Please refer to the images to form your own opinion about cosmetic condition. While they are currently of a textured gold and green, I imagine that the new owner will likely want to spray paint them to their own décor / taste. Currently, there are minor cosmetic flaws that would be covered once refinished. I do not know what type of metal these are made out of. I suspect that the flat portion / backing are a heavy aluminum and that the curved portion that the lights are mounted on are some kind of steel - the latter is ferrous (i.e. "magnetic") while the former is not. The "double" units weight over 1 lb., 10 oz. ea. The doubles are 10" tall, as measured from the top of the upper finial to the bottom of the lower one. They're 8 1/2" wide at their widest point. The "single" unit is 10 1/4" by 5". These take standard sized bulbs. If you look closely toward the bottom of the "doubles" on the front side, you'll see that there is a switch on one but not the other. If I were to use these, I'd remove the remaining switch (it just unscrews) so that the two match. I'd then wire these sconces directly to the light switch on your wall. There's really no need to have a second switch at the light itself. Before painting these to match your décor, think about how you're going to mount these to the light box. You're going to end up buying some hardware at the lighting store that will include a nut that holds these onto the wall. Get that before you do your spray painting so that you can include that nut in your painting project. These are really great lights with lots of character; they deserve a second chance and just need a DIYer with a bit of time to bring them back to their old glory. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have. Thanks for looking. Internal code: r-ma-70-44...DSC972-984...1000-1990rg/5.13/12x12x12
